Living in the Moment: Trust God’s Timing

“The water continued to go down.  By the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains could be seen.”

(Genesis 8:5)

You are a grateful person who sees logic and organization in the way God sets precise timing for each moment of life.

 You do not spend your days lamenting the past, or worrying about the future. Instead, you choose to live in the moment and wait for God’s signal to tell you when the time is right to move forward. 

You can see in nature that seasons change according to God’s plan and perfect timing.  Seasons of dormancy usher in new growth and seasons of harvest give way to times of rest.

By waiting for God’s guidance, you can rest assured that your progress will be sure and steady. There will be times of waiting. There will be times of forward movement. Each step is scheduled for a specific season in your life which has been prearranged by God.

 You do not squander your life away by overwhelming your days with busyness. You enjoy each and every season, knowing that change is constant, and timing is everything.

You observe the stress and pressure on those who view time as an opponent to be overpowered, rather than a friend on which to lean.

You rely heavily on God and His timing to give you guidance and structure. You are relieved that there are times of waiting and preparation because this insures you do not have to take on everything at once.

You realize that some of the seasons of life are like the bitter winds of winter. These days are difficult and hard to endure. Sometimes the waiting is unbearable, but when the time is right, a warm gentle breeze breaks the icy chill and ushers in the colorful array of new growth. 

Therefore, you practice gratitude. You know that is what will get you through the difficult seasons when days are dark and minutes pass like hours.

Even though the waiting may seem endless and harsh, you know that if you wait for God to move first, you will always be in the right place at the right time.

The Feeding of the Five Thousand: A Lesson in Generosity

In the multiplication miracle of feeding the five thousand, we see that Jesus was happy to give the hungry people as much food as they wanted. They ate until they were satisfied, and there was plenty left over.

By this example, we can rest assured that Jesus is pleased when He is given the opportunity to be generous. He is not stingy or miserly when it comes to providing the necessities of life. He will not withhold the resources needed to fulfill our destinies. We know that He wants us to have everything we need to successfully complete our human journey. However, there are times we may feel uncomfortable asking, for fear our requests might be based upon selfish motives.

As we level up, we learn this is a needless fear. God is a loving Father. He will not give us something that is bad for us. We think back to the days when our children were young, and they asked for candy when it was time for dinner. We didn’t judge or condemn them. We simply said, “No. That’s not good for you,” and then provided them with a healthy option instead. We know that God will do the same for us. He won’t give us anything that will do harm. We trust Him to protect us; sometimes even from ourselves.

Purpose

I tell you, do not worry. Don’t worry about your life and what you will eat or drink. And don’t worry about your body and what you will wear. Isn’t there more to life than eating? Aren’t there more important things for the body than clothes? Matthew 6:25

In the passage Jesus is telling the crowds that there is much more to their lives than the clothes they wear or the food they eat.

What is this MORE he was talking about? Perhaps it is true satisfaction and purpose.

Each of us has a MORE in our divine DNA. It is the unique effect we were designed to deliver to this earthly planet. It is the portion of the Kingdom that we each bring to earth during the years we spend here. The ‘more’ Jesus spoke of are the blessings we give, the encouragement we offer, the mentorship we provide, and the miracles we perform.

We realize that if we continue to focus on these Kingdom matters, we can level up to a life of satisfaction and contentment. God takes care of our needs, and we expand His Kingdom.

It is a win-win.

The Power of Praise

As we progressed up the path in the Tetelestai Realm of Recovery, we discovered a powerful weapon against the onslaught of obsessions, compulsions, and other dysfunctional thought patterns. The weapon was praise and it turned out to be more powerful than we ever imagined.

We came to see that when we praised God, we experienced a higher level of satisfaction in our lives, and we became more deeply aware of His goodness surrounding us. We also noticed that when our praises declined, so did our sense of well-being.

From simply a human point of view, this made perfect sense to us. We were easily able to confirm the effect praise has on all creatures. Praise given to a pet or a child is the way to convey approval and appreciation. Praise offered to a co-worker is received with gratitude and goodwill. Praise given to a spouse, partner, or family member can bridge a strained relationship or energize an exhausted soul.  

We realized that when we praised God, we were verbalizing our trust in His divine plan. When praising God, we were simultaneously attracting angelic presence and repelling demonic entities. Knowing that neither angels nor demons can read minds, we put great emphasis on verbalizing our praises.

In our study of the praise process, we noticed in various groups of people, when praise was offered to an individual, idea, or accomplishment, others in agreement would gather round to voice their commendation. However, there were occasions when an opposing individual or group would disapprove of the admiration. Those particular individuals or groups would generally withdraw and exit the area.

We found this research to be incredibly enlightening. When paralleled with the spirit realm, we began to understand the impact our praises might have on the atmosphere surrounding us. If angels love to praise God, we could expect them to gather round those who are doing the same. In like manner, the demonic spirits, who refuse to offer their praises to God, would be repulsed by such joyful admiration of our Father.

With this scenario in mind, we began praising for every element of beauty, comfort, or protection we encountered. After only a brief time of this practice, we found that the demon of depression lifted, the spirit of selfishness released its grip, and the antagonist of addiction grew weaker. Based on our hypothesis, we continued our conscious effort to offer praise to God regularly throughout our daily duties. The results led us to a most rewarding conclusion.
